We are focusing on India and it's culture for our production piece. We are doing a dance - "Bollywood" style with traditional Indian costumes. We have based our dance on a dance from the official music video for the movie "Slumdog Millionaire" using the song "Jai Ho".

Here are the list of steps/moves for the girls' & boys' dance routines for our class...
Start - facing diagonally to the left, knees together & bent; head looking down; hands by your knees with flat open back palms (indian hands).
Triple step towards the stage (right): left hand forwards & up - right hand dropping behind & down (indian hands). You triple jump from right to left two times with your right hand moving from behind and up to meet the left hand with each jump (4x triple jump total).
Facing front of stage: legs in wide 2nd position: jump - leaning to left side with right leg straight & pointed toe - indian hands move to face the left and then swap over legs and hands to the right (do this 7x).
Legs together towards the front: hands raise in prayer hands above the head and come down in front of your chest (1st "Jai-Ho")
Legs in wide 2nd position facing front: left hand above head and right hand in front of stomach (indian hands) - left leg is bent and right leg is straight & pointed - tap it twice with the next "Jai-Ho". Swap legs and hands and double tap leg. Repeat again with the left and then the right (4x total).
Legs in wide 2nd position facing front - slight double bounce (starts of with "a-ja, a-ja). Right hand on hip while the left arm is straight - moving around from side to the front with "come here" hand (6x). Right hand then is straight moving around from side to front with "come here" hand (8x).
Legs still wide in 2nd position facing front - hands together in indian hands (flat open back palms) - flick wrists to the left, then the right. Then flick back to left but move whole head, bend left knee and move body. Then flick back to right and move head, bend knee and move body (this takes up to next "Jai-Ho").
Legs together, facing front: slight double step with arms out to the sides diagonally (straight) with indian palms (left up, right down) - bounce for 2, then centre prayer hands for 1, then arms diagonal (right up, left down) and then centre prayer for 1.... repeat this whole thing twice.
Legs together, knees bent, facing front: with indian hands to up/down move for 2, then step to left and push down with indian hands for 2 - repeat; then indian hands centre to up/down move for 2, then step to right and push down with indian hands for 2 - repeat.
Twirls: indian hands with left hand up above head, right hand by stomach and turn to left first; swap hands and then turn to the right - repeat to each side again.
Hop and clap to left, then to right, then to left, then to right.
Step to left and with indian hands to up/down towards ceiling, then push up/down towards the floor.
Step to right and with indian hands to up/down push towards the floor, then up/down towards the ceiling.
Feet together, face front with legs bent: indian hands with up/down motions
